Japan Depositions

Depositions in Japan

Often imitated, never duplicated, American Realtime is the only court reporting agency with court reporters and videographers truly located in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Beware of other reporters claiming to be local or representing expertise in Asia.

Because the majority of our work involves realtiming intellectual property depositions in Asia, we are expert at overcoming the technological and cultural challenges that frequently present themselves in this region. Our unique experience affords us greater familiarity with Asian accents, protocol, geography and terminology, thereby facilitating superior realtime reporting.

All American Realtime's reporters are from the United States, certified by NCRA (National Court Reporters Association), utilize state-of-the-art realtime technology and provide realtime-ready laptops at all depositions throughout Asia.

Our close proximity to the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo and the U.S. Consulate in Osaka enables us to obtain local up-to-the-minute information and be a liaison between our clients and those venues.

DEPOSITION VISAS
All deposition attendees who are not Japan residents must apply for Deposition Visas. This process can be tedious, and visas are sometimes rejected resulting in depositions being cancelled. We'll get you through the nuances that certain states require in their applications to ensure your depositions go forward.

DEPOSITION RULES
Under the US-Japan Consular Convention, depositions in Japan are not permitted outside the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo and the U.S. Consulate in Osaka, and attorneys must follow strict procedures to set them up. We can walk you through the process with ease!
